Dear Friends,

​

What started as a way to share the food of my homeland, Jamaica, while I played football at the University of Cincinnati became a passion of love, sharing, and serving the masses in the Cincinnati area since 2009.

​

When I started, I never dreamed I'd be allowed to appear on three episodes of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and call Guy Fieri a mentor and friend. Let alone meet many wonderful people who saw the show, came to the restaurant, and dined. But as exciting as it was to meet all these wonderful souls, the many patrons who visited Island Frydays each week for their Jamaican fix. 

It's been an honor to be part of such a great city, share my passion for great food, and have many memorable moments and connections with many of you.

However, as many know, the Covid pandemic hurt many small businesses, especially those in the food industry. While we found a way to survive, the economic impact across the nation caused food costs to soar, making it harder and harder to survive. After pouring everything we have into Island Frydays, a decision was made to end our journey. This decision was not made lightly, as we know it will impact those on our team.

Island Frydays will close on December 17, 2024. 

​

Trust me when I say we've explored every available resource to avoid making this difficult decision, especially with the holidays right around the corner, but we can no longer sustain it.

​

To every person who has been part of our team since day one and to every guest who dined with us, you made this journey unforgettable, and I will cherish it for the rest of my life. 

​

In the future, we will still work to provide our award-winning seasonings online. We may consider putting some island vibes with great recipes on YouTube or other social media channels.

​

Hopefully, when you visited Island Frydays, we gave you a little taste of paradise. Until we meet again, I send you and your families much love.
